Regardless of what the tabloids tell you, regardless of what the television programs sell, and most of all regardless of which newer and more innovative ‘lose weight now’ products are released into the market, one thing and one thing only remains the truth – hard work and a constant routine are the only two factors which can help you lose that tummy fat.
One of the most popular misconceptions that people have, especially women, is that they can lose tummy fat by simply exercising the tummy area or doing specialized abs exercises. In fact, a number of popular exercise equipments are marketed on the internet and on the television which all promise the same thing: you can lose the ugly tummy fat with little or no work at all in as short a time as possible. These exercise equipment, all with different fancy names and designs, all attempt to do the same things – work out the tummy or mid-section of the body only.
After all, this is a woman’s most troubling focal point, and it is the fastest and the easiest target market to sell frivolous products to desperate women. What women are scarcely aware of however is that regardless of the amount of focal or spot exercises that you do, your body would lose its extra weight uniformly. This means that all parts of your body would lose weight, not only the area that you wish to lose the most weight from. This also means that you would lose weight first in the area that you put on weight last.
This is because the body holds on to its favorite fat reserves, which are the reserves which it would also seek to fill first. In the woman, these reserves are the tummy area, the buttocks and the upper thigh, and even the arms and the face. Chances are that these are the last places that you would lose weight from.
In order to lose that unsightly tummy fat however, you could try exercising the entire body to ensure a uniform workout. Cardio exercises are the most popular type of workouts that women do to tone the body. But the real secret to losing body weight is to replace the body fat with body muscle (protein). A lean body (a muscular one) can burn calories a lot faster and more efficiently than fat can.
Therefore by increasing the muscular mass of your body, you would in effect be keeping or building weight in order to lose more weight. Do not be confused. By converting the body fat into muscle mass, you would most likely not lose any weight – in fact, chances are you would gain weight. Muscle is heavier than fat, and in effect you are trading the one for the other. But more muscle means more calories can be burnt, therefore more weight lost.
